I have been interested in meditation on one level or another since my twenties (in my forties now), there is a vast number of approaches to what the word meditation implies, some that can contradict each other.
The style I have come to settle myself in, is essentially about cultivating a space for resting in unintentional awareness. Being grounded in my unintentional self, so to say, and tweaking attention and direction with intentions that arise from that part of self.
I found ‘idling’ to be a helpful metaphor in this context.
There is plenty of meditation music without lyrics out there, while I have a hard time finding meditation inspired music with lyrics. If anyone has any tips, please give me a heads up.
I have been working on a project with this in mind, and will post meditation inspired music with lyrics in this thread (with no idea if I will actually have anything more to add at this point onward). Feel free to add your own or link to others in this conversation.
With no further a due, here is Goin’ idle - a return to meditation
Lyrics:
Yeah, I’m goin’ idle,
returning to my meditation,
closed for business,
open for recalibration.
blending with my inner smile,
I’m idlin’ unintentionally,
just by being alive
I’m goin’ idle,
I’m idling on the go,
Finding my rhythm
in the ebb and flow.
The world’s in play
I’m in pause,
Not every moment
needs a cause
it’s not about ignoring
it’s not about neglect
it’s about adoring
being able to detect
detect a sense of self
a sense of others
the complexity of reality
and just kinda hover
while I’m idling
thoughts tend to slide,
there’s nothing on my mind
that can collide
(that can collide)
there’s nothing on my mind,
that can collide
I’m goin’ idle,
I’m idling on the go,
Finding my rhythm
in the ebb and flow,
the world’s in play
I’m in pause,
Not every moment
needs a cause
closing my eyes
and enjoying the view,
returning to the session
that started,
in my mother’s womb
I’m idling,
I’m unintentionally aware,
circulating with my breath
and feeling the air
When I resume intending
I’ll renew,
the stirring of my life
while adding to it’s brew
(The stirring of my life)
while adding to it’s brew
I’m goin’ idle,
I’m idling on the go,
Finding my rhythm
in the ebb and flow.
The world’s in play
I’m in pause,
Not every moment
needs a cause
it’s not about ignoring
it’s not about neglect
