In the Exercise of Fire one learns about what is offered and what is accepted by communication or through other forms of energy transfer. What came before this exchange? Inheritance of the energy around you. One cannot communicate or breathe without first acquiring what came before. You may see this as the chicken and the egg. We take in what was already present and then give it to the next one.
I have three approaches that may make sense. The first is through Norse Mythology and the meaning behind the Othala Rune. The book I am using is “Teutonic Magic: A Guide to Germanic Divination Lore and Magic” by Kveldulf Gundarsson. The second approach is through the I Ching (Yi Jing) and the trigram called Dui. The book I am using is “The Complete I Ching” by Taoist Master Alfred Huang. The third approach is through the Cube of Space. I created a subreddit that is based on “The Tarot: A Key to the Wisdom of Ages” by Paul Foster Case. This is the Hierophant or as Ra put it the Significator of Mind.
The Exercise of Fire refers to the Empress or Catalyst of the Mind. This is what is offered and what is accepted. Before offering anything one must have received this energy. The Ra contact refers to this as the Significator of Mind or the Hierophant.

An In-Depth Introduction to the Mind Cycle – Third Density AlchemistThe Significator is that which is complex, and therefore can become that which it is not. Being fractured into sub-sub-Logoi, that which we are not, allows us to experience the “dynamic tension” of “Creator vs. Creator”. This allows experience to create and recreate by its very nature. That which we are not is also symbolized by the confusing polarity on the card – the white hatted imp sits on the Hierophant’s right side, and the dark-hat sits on the left. This shows that “negative” experience often feeds polarization of the positive path, and “positive” experience feeds polarization on the negative path – for instance, one who struggles with money can learn many lessons of empathy and seeking that which is not material, and one who never struggles with money will take that experience as one that supports them (and others) as having unending resources to plunder.
The polarity in the card is represented by the hand gestures, as Ra says here:
97.16 Ra: You may note that the hands of the central image indicate the appropriate bias for right- and left-hand working; that is, the right hand gestures in service to others, offering its light outward. The left hand attempts to absorb the power of the spirit and point it for its use alone.
The Significator is the one who chooses to act, to know, to seek. Here the Significator of the Mind is shown on a stage, and even, within a box. This is the complex actor who decides the nuance of how to tell the story that it is performing in. Ra says due to imperfect memory and imperfect usage of catalyst, the Significator itself is not the most “efficient” use of the cycle, as you can see in comparing it to the symbols on the Great Way.
The Hierophant is not only upon the stage, but dependent upon the stage (the body complex, in micro/macrocosm) for its experience.
97.10 Ra: O student, you have grasped the barest essence of the nature of the Significator’s complete envelopment within the rectangle. Consider for the self, O student, whether your thoughts can walk. The abilities of the most finely honed mentality shall not be known without the use of the physical vehicle which you call the body. Through the mouth the mind may speak. Through the limbs the mind may effect action.
Othala Rune
p.188 As the rune of inheritance, othala rules not only the bounds of the clan itself but also the mysteries of inherited power. This rune is tied to the wisdom of the kinfygja, a guardian power who bears a resemblance to the fylgja, the valkyrja and the disir. The kinfylga is a feminine personification of a particular family’s might who usually attaches herself to the head of the clan, although at times she will pass to a younger member who is better fit to wield her might. Othala rules both that might which is inherited from the genetic ancestors and that which is inherited from the “ancestors” of the spirit - that is, your previous existences. Either, or both if they are harmonious, may be the determinant of the nature of your personal power. This is the rune of Odhinn’s might as Allfather: by his inheritance of the might of both jotuns and gods, he has become identified with the roots of power for every living being. His assumption of this heritage makes him the fit leader of every clan.
p. 189 Othala is used to bring out wisdom and power from all sources of your heritage, including past-life knowledge and talents.
Dui - Trigram for Lake ☱ Southeast side of Fuxi’s “Earlier Heaven” bagua arrangment.
Definitions:
⦁ Gua - Hexagram or trigram, a six line or three line symbol
⦁ Yao - A line of a gua, either yin (yielding, broken; example - -) or yang (firm, solid; example ___ )
⦁ An ideogram or ideograph is a symbol that represents an idea or concept independent of any particular language. The structure of the gua is Lake ☱ above, Lake ☱ below. Lake’s attribute is joy. When Lake is doubled, the joyfulness is also doubled. According to Western tradition, Dui has been translated as Lake, and people are accustomed to it. In fact, it should be marsh or swamp. Rice is the staple of life for the Chinese people, and rice paddies are marshes. An abundance of Dui, marshes, leads to an abundance of food - a situation that makes everyone joyful.
[Picture in your mind since photo cannot be uploaded]
The ideograph uses the image of a person singing and dancing to express the mood of joy. It consists of three parts. In the middle is an open mouth singing. The lower part is made up of two legs, which seem to be moving and dancing. The upper part depicts two arms swinging in the air, expressing joy. This gua take the image of a person who is outwardly gentle and joyful but firm and truthful inside. It discusses the way to deal with human affairs. Before one takes action, one should make a decision. This is using inner strength. But one still should accept others’ ideas and not stubbornly adhere to one’s own opinion. This is the way to cultivate outward harmony. Dealing with people, one should be gentle and joyful but not flattering and fawning. Dealing with events, one should be firm and stable but not stubborn and opinionated. In this way, there will be progress and success, and nothing will be unfavorable.
The Hierophant - Vav - Southeast Edge of the Cube of Space
p. 75 Hebrew letter Vav means “nail” or “hook”; something to join the parts of a building together, also something to support hanging objects, therefore something on which other things depend. A nail is a fastening, a link, a means of union. As a means of support, it is linked in thought and language with such ideas as aid, assistance, sustenance, furtherance and ministry. In Hebrew, the letter Vav is the equivalent of the English “and.” Thus, like a nail, it binds the parts of a sentence together, and clauses or phrases introduced by it hang from it, like pictures supported by hooks driven into a wall.
p. 76 Hearing, which unites man to man by speech, and man to God by the Word of the Inner Voice, is the sense attributed to Vav. Jesus said often, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” This is a technical formula of Ageless Wisdom. What was true then is true now. Knowledge of the higher aspects of reality comes to us through soundless sound of an Inner Voice, which often speaks as plainly as any voice heard with the physical ear.
p.77 Taurus, the Bull, a fixed, earthy sign, is attributed to Vav. It is ruled by the planet Venus (The Empress) and is the sign of exhaltation of the Moon (The High Priestess).
p.78 Hierophant means “revealer of sacred things.”
11.8 Ra: Penetration into the eighth, or intelligent infinity, level allows a mind/body/spirit complex to be harvested, if it wishes, at any time/space during the cycle.
The number 8 is something to focus on.
97.17 Questioner: The eight cartouches at the bottom would possibly signify the energy centers and the evolution through those centers… possibility for either the positive or negative polarization because of the white and black coloration of the figures.
Ra: The observations of the student are perceptive. It is informative to continue the study of octaves in association with this concept complex. Many are the octaves of a mind/body/spirit complex’s beingness. There is not one that does not profit from being pondered in connection with the considerations of the nature of the development of polarity exemplified by the concept complex of your Card Number Five. (Significator of the Mind or Hierophant)

I will give you the ‘keys’ of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19
What if we already have these keys and we just need to figure out how to combine them to access a door that leads to Intelligent Infinity. It is best if you figure out the rest on your own. I have faith you will find your way.
I am bound by LLResearch and something within to not give what was given. I am so glad that there is published material to refer to.
