Exercise of Fire Theory

Could you define this statement “energy transfer between two mind/body/spirit complexes?”

Ra
The physical energy transfer may be done numerous ways.

We shall give two examples. Each begins with some sense of the self as Creator or in some way the magical personality being invoked. This may be consciously or unconsciously done. Firstly, that exercise of which we have spoken called the exercise of fire: this is, though physical energy transfer, not that which is deeply involved in the body complex combinations. Thusly the transfer is subtle and each transfer unique in what is offered and what is accepted. At this point we may note that this is the cause for the infinite array of possible energy transfers.

The second energy transfer of which we would speak is the sexual energy transfer. This takes place upon a non-magical level by all those entities which vibrate green ray active.

It is possible, as in the case of this instrument which dedicates itself to the service of the One Infinite Creator, to further refine this energy transfer. When the other-self also dedicates itself in service to the One Infinite Creator, the transfer is doubled. Then the amount of energy transferred is dependent only upon the amount of polarized sexual energy created and released. There are refinements from this point onward leading to the realm of the high sexual magic.

In the realm of the mental bodies there are variations of mental energy transferred. This is, again, dependent upon the knowledge sought and the knowledge offered. The most common mental energy transfer is that of the teacher and the pupil. The amount of energy is dependent upon the quality of this offering upon the part of the teacher as regards the purity of the desire to serve and the quality of information offered and, upon the part of the student, the purity of the desire to learn and the quality of the mind vibratory complex which receives knowledge.

Another form of mental energy transfer is that of the listener and the speaker. When the speaker is experiencing mental/emotional-complex distortions towards anguish, sorrow, or other mental pain, from what we have said before, you may perhaps garner knowledge of the variations possible in this transfer.

For emphasis I am referring to the first example given by Ra. “The physical energy transfer as to what is offered and what is accepted.” Most people may think of this as Reiki because of the connection of physical energy transfer but what if we can see this in another form which could be communication.

Everyone is giving their thoughts and on the other end they are receiving this transfer of energy. One may think then why say Exercise of Fire. For that connection one would need to investigate or research other information that was never mentioned in the Ra Material.

I have three approaches that may not make sense to anyone because they have not done the research themselves. The first is through Norse Mythology and the meaning behind the Uruz rune. The book I am using is “Teutonic Magic: A Guide to Germanic Divination Lore and Magic” by Kveldulf Gundarsson. The second approach is through the I Ching (Yi Jing) and the trigram called Li. The book I am using is “The Complete I Ching” by Taoist Master Alfred Huang. The third approach is through something I first began researching when the original Bring4th forum was still active. I am referring to the Cube of Space. I created a subreddit that is based on “The Tarot: A Key to the Wisdom of Ages” by Paul Foster Case. This is not through the Ra explanation of Tarot but one may be able to connect with The Empress. Or what Ra did mention which is the Significator.

Significator: The Significator is the actor. The Significator in the Mind cycle is the Magician, High Priestess, Empress, and Emperor, and, if experience is utilized, the Lovers and the Chariot(eer). The Significator of each cycle is a facet of the Fool, who unifies the cycles.

Everyone experiences/utilizes the Matrix, Potentiator, and Catalyst (mind & body) all day every day. Experience is inevitable, but conscious use of catalyst leads to more fructified experience. The Significator is the represented actor participating in this show: the harvest of all of one’s experiences including previous incarnations.

Ra also says the Significator must have the ability to “become that which it is not”, meaning that the Significator is a representation of the altered reality created by being a mind/body/spirit complex.

Uruz Rune

p. 60 The rune-name uruz means “aurochs,” the mighty, wild bovine of ancient times, which was an object of veneration among the Germanic peoples. Uruz is the powerful unconscious-shaping energies of the universe which can only be guided by the wise one.

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem
(Aurochs) is fearless
and greatly horned
a very fierce beast,
it fights with its horns,
a famous roamer of the moor
it is a courageous animal.

The rune poem links this stave to the process of purification and shaping embodied by the cow Audhumbla and the alchemical process of evaporation and condensation.

Old Norwegian Rune Rhyme
(Slag) is from bad iron
oft runs the reindeer on the hard snow.

Old Icelandic Rune Poem
(Drizzle) is the weeping of clouds
and the diminisher of the ring of ice
and the herdsman’s hate.

Both “slag” and “drizzle” speak of the endless process of patterning, cleansing, and reshaping which is the work of uruz. In the larger context of world and being, the rune-shape shows the path of water rising from the Well of Urdhr shaping the growth of the World-Tree, and flowing back down from its leaves into the well, continually renewing the life of the tree and healing the wounds made by all the wights that gnaw on it. Uruz is the rune of Wyrd as an active force (the upward stroke) and also the rune used to direct the magical shaping will into the Well of Urdhr (the downward stroke).

p. 62 Uruz is used to aid in the growth of “wisdom” within you; that is to say, the deep-rooted, semiconscious awareness of the patterns of being and the way in which the waters of Urdhr are flowing. It can be used to bring your awareness to the workings of nature and the ebb and flow of natural energies. Uruz can be used in the personal sphere to bring you courage and physical strength and to enhance your independence and leadership abilities.

Li - Trigram for Fire ☲ East side of Fuxi’s “Earlier Heaven” bagua arrangment.

Definitions:

  • Gua - Hexagram or trigram, a six line or three line symbol

  • Yao - A line of a gua, either yin (yielding, broken; example - -) or yang (firm, solid; example ___ )

  • An ideogram or ideograph is a symbol that represents an idea or concept independent of any particular language.

The structure of the gua is Fire above ☲, Fire below ☲. The attribute of Fire is attachment as well as brightness. When two Fire gua are combined, the Brightness is doubled. During times of darkness and danger people should cling to one another. When they do, things get brighter. Fire is yang energy.

Li means to leave, to part from, to be away from but in ancient times it also meant to attach.

The attribute of Li is Brightness or Fire, which symbolizes intelligence and wisdom. Being embarrassed by unresolved problems feels like falling into darkness. Finding a solution is compared to light that casts out the darkness. This gua sheds light upon the distinction between right and wrong.

[There is an ideograph that I cannot post because it is a picture from the book so you will have to try to imagine this in your mind.]
The left half of the ideograph is an ancient animal named Li; the right half is an ancient bird with bright yellow feathers called zhui. A Chinese character, in most cases, is made up of two parts: one part provides the meaning. In this ideograph, the left side gives the sound of the character Li, while the right provides the meaning. The ancients picked the bright color of the bird to signify the character Li; thus, Li symbolizes brightness, though that is not its literal meaning. It is associated with Fire, the sun, and the most yang energy.

The Empress - Daleth - East facing side of Cube of Space

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Revelation 12:1-2

p. 57 Hebrew letter Daleth means “door, pathway.” Some say Daleth represents the womb, as the door of life. The door itself then suggests defense, protection, preservation, safe-keeping, conservation and related ideas. The idea of passage suggested by the doorway brings to mind both ingress and egress, motion into and motion out from. It also suggests transmission, diffusion, dissemination, separation (as one thinks of a door as the means of leaving a house) and so division, apportionment, partition, administration.

p. 58 Venus is the planetary attribution to Daleth. She corresponds to the cow-headed Egyptian goddess Hathor. Venus presides over child-birth, is a mother-goddess and patroness of love, beauty and art. Astrologers say Venus rules the sense of touch and has much influence on the disposition, especially on the desire-nature. Wisdom and Folly are assigned by Qabalists to Daleth. The mode of consciousness and subconscious response to self-conscious interpretation and suggestion determines whether our ideas (mental offspring) are wise or foolish.

p. 59 East, the direction assigned to Daleth, is the doorway through which the sun enters the world at the beginning of a day. It is the place of the birth of light. Similarly, subconsciousness is the womb of those ideas which enlighten the world. In Hebrew, the noun for East is AVR (pronounced “our”), and the word for Light has the same spelling and practically the same pronunciation.

The Empress means literally, “She who sets in order.” She is the feminine ruling power. She is also the consort of the Emperor. Her name contrasts with the High Priestess, which indicates the cold virginity of a cloistered devotee of the gods. In like manner, mythology contrasts the warm mother-goddess, Venus, with Diana, virgin-goddess of the Moon.

I am sure some may draw conclusions that the Exercise of Fire is referring to more than just communication between two or more people.

Here’s a couple more I-Ching stories, using the Fire and Heaven trigrams which may complement better than other pairings.

  1. The Enchanted of T’ung Jen
She’s turned on by his muscles.
    Honestly reckoning her desires.
    Maybe they could hide somewhere.
And just hang out for a while.
    They could entertain each other.
    Or practice important skills.

  2. The Gigolo of Ta Yu
    He waits to be requested.
    He drives a large vehicle.
    He arrives ready for love.
    He doesn’t rush his work.
    He’s paid for his expertise.
    Some revere him as sacred.
