The Original Thought

I think the goal and the process are distinct. There are many nested steps of them. So what was said earlier about determinism is not correct enough. You can choose the process, but the goal is fixed. But on the outer level this goal was choice how to move to another goal. So it´s nested. All the described is part of the Thought.

I agree that determinism in the mechanical sense seems to be false. My recent approach to have both determinism in a creative way and free will with choices is to consider infinity. Intelligent infinity. That’s utterly mindboggling. Even a single atom is not just some separate particle, it’s a precise manifestation of intelligent infinity that is connected to all of reality.

Ra blasting the Great Pyramid at Giza into existence using thought can give a hint of the complexity involved in reality. Even in mainstream science, they are discovering more and more complexity within a single cell. Some biologists have described the cell in living organisms as having the complexity of a whole city. And that’s probably just scratching the surface.

And when we make a choice, that’s not some simplistic and deterministic result of the past. It’s way more advanced than that I have come to believe. The original thought is intelligent infinity in action. It’s beyond what I can grasp except I think of it as the One without the other.

Much of the original thought is veiled from us in third density for the purpose of growth and development. And for us to develop individualities, cultures and societies that are unique. Without the veil things would have been easy yet very little progress in terms of creativity and new development.

One interesting possibility is that when we see through the cosmic trick of the veil it may lose its importance. We as humanity and as individuals have already gone through enough struggle possibly for us to lift the veil, to remove the training wheels so to speak.

The original thought is absolute truth. And only relative truth can have an opposite of false. I listened to a talk by Vernon Howard where he said this:

“We’re even afraid that truth is going to harm us, that truth/reality/God which is trying to take away our trembling, our anxieties, truth which is trying to take it away from us, we fear it.” - Vernon Howard

It seems that he was talking about what Ra calls catalysts. And maybe fear itself can be seen as a catalyst! That by being mindful of fearful thoughts and feeling within oneself it puts attention to the fear directly as a catalyst and instead of trying to resolve the fear with thinking and planning, to remain mindful of the fear and letting it dissolve.

There may be an important reason(s) for why Ra calls our reality an illusion. To use a simple analogy, if the original thought is a computer screen, our reality is the images on the screen. The illusion is that we take the images as being all there is to reality and overlook the screen.

The images can be called the relative realm and the screen the absolute reality. And notice the illusion of causality here. When a billiard ball hits another billiard ball on the screen, we say that it was the first ball that caused the second ball to move. The true cause however is the computer code producing all the images, including the movements of the billiard balls.

In this way concepts like unconditional love become difficult to understand when we are trapped in the relative realm, in the world of images to use the screen analogy. We believe that there has to be polarities for things like love when we are trapped in the relative perspective only. The word “illusion” is therefore valid as an indication of our mistaken experience of reality.

The ability to think is an advanced development that is reached in third density. It’s doubtful that second density animals or plants can think. And it’s almost funny how intellectual people sound threatened by the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). It’s probably that they can sense within them that their prized intellectual capacity isn’t all that important anymore. And with exponential (accelerating) progress of technology AI will soon reach IQ levels of 1,000 and be able to think millions of times faster than humans.

So yes, the human intellect’s ability to think is a high level of development and still it looks like it’s just a stepping stone into higher forms of awareness. Someone described intuition as the ability to understand something instantly without having to think about it first. My guess is that it’s with intuition that we humans will remain on top of the AI which can be used as a tool for doing the heavy lifting of mechanical thinking.

The ability to think will remain in higher densities for us humans I believe. It’s just that it will be thinking on a higher level where far fewer thoughts can express much more than lots of third density thoughts. And with less need for dualities and polarities. In third densities our human minds are thrashed about violently by worrisome and frantic thinking, fueled by fear. Sometimes the fear has become so suppressed an subconscious that it’s only recognized on a conscious level in the form of indirect expressions of fear, such as anger and sadness.

The original thought is unconditional love. To the third density mind unconditional love can be mistaken for a sinkhole of indifference or numbness. I see love as wholeness in harmony, and that unconditional love feels pleasant. Our third density thinking today is seldom pleasant. That’s a hint that reality is telling us that our thinking is causing conflict and friction, spiritual entropy as Ra calls it.

Here I found a definition of the original thought from the L/L Research Wiki hat I think is great.

“All things, all of life, all of the creation is part of One Original Thought. In each octave this Original Thought contains the harvest of all experience of the Creator by the Creator from the preceding octaves. For instance, the harvest of the previous octave into our present octave was the efficiency of the male/female polarity, and the Creator of Love manifested in mind, body, and spirit.” - One Original Thought - L/L Research

Maybe I’m biased, but I like how it describes the octaves similar to how I imagined it. Instead of just one octave repeating itself there is a sequence of octaves from lower to higher. Like on a piano the white keys can symbolize the 7 different densities, and the piano octaves the density octaves.

82.4 Questioner: Thank you. I would like to consider the condition at a time or position you might say, if time is a bad word, just prior to the beginning of this octave of experience. I am assuming that, just prior to the beginning of this octave, intelligent infinity had created and already experienced one or more previous octaves. Is this correct?

Ra: I am Ra. You assume correctly. However, the phrase would more informatively read, infinite intelligence had experienced previous octaves.

Wow, that’s a great find. Why did Ra correct the questioner? My interpretation is that the original thought already contains all the octaves in unmanifested form. And in order for the octaves to become manifested, infinite intelligence has to experience them.

I’m far from understanding so cannot say certainly. But to my humble opinion it’s realization of the plan.

Here I found an answer where Ra describes all there is as unpotentiated infinity which is intelligent. This is the same as the Creator according to Ra.

51.10 Questioner: Immediately after the death of the physical body, you have stated that the, I believe I’m correct in saying that, primary activated body is the indigo, and you stated that it is the form-maker. Why is this so? Can you answer that?

Ra: I am Ra. This will be the last full query of this session of working.

The indigo body may be seen to be an analog for intelligent energy. It is, in microcosm, the Logos. The intelligent energy of the mind/body/spirit complex totality draws its existence from intelligent infinity or the Creator. This Creator is to be understood, both in macrocosm and microcosm, to have, as we have said, two natures: the unpotentiated infinity which is intelligent; this is all that there is.

Free will has potentiated both the Creator of us all and our selves as co-Creators with intelligent infinity which has will. This will may be drawn upon by the indigo, or form-making, body, and its wisdom used to then choose the appropriate locus and type of experience which this co-Creator or sub-sub-Logos you call so carelessly a person will take.

I am Ra. This is the time for any brief queries.

Something I found tricky is that a thought seems to me to be potentiated instead of unpotentiated. To resolve this I interpret the original thought as being a platonic form.

“Many people associate Plato with a few central doctrines that are advocated in his writings: The world that appears to our senses is in some way defective and filled with error, but there is a more real and perfect realm, populated by entities (called “forms” or “ideas”) that are eternal, changeless, and in some sense paradigmatic for the structure and character of the world presented to our senses.” -
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy

The original thought then is the total platonic form for all of existence. I still think that the original thought is the same as the Infinite Creator (to make it all One). The original thought has both a potentiated (manifested) part which is the past, and an unpotentiated (unmanifested) part which is the future. Ra only mentioned that the creator has an unpotentiated infinity which is I believe because something potentiated is finite, so one can include the potententiated part within the unpotentiated infinity.

I found the word “unpotentiated” difficult to interpret and I used ChatGPT for clearing it up:

"Yes, in the given context, the phrase “the unpotentiated infinity which is intelligent” could be interpreted as referring to an unmanifested form. While the term “unpotentiated” typically connotes a lack of enhancement or amplification, it can also imply that something has not been made evident or visible.

In this interpretation, the sentence suggests that the Creator has two natures: one that is unmanifested or unpotentiated and another that is manifested or potentiated. The unpotentiated aspect represents an invisible, unmanifested form of the Creator, while the manifested aspect could signify the visible, expressed, or realized form."

In my previous post Ra also talks about free will: “Free will has potentiated both the Creator of us all and our selves as co-Creators with intelligent infinity which has will.” (51.10)

I found that interesting. Free will is then the activity of manifesting the original thought as I see it. The original thought is infinite which can be seen as having inexhaustible potential. When we use our free will we are drawing from the inexhaustible potential of the original thought and making more and more of it manifested.

One shocking possibility is that our reality is like a video game. There is something called the simulation hypothesis.

“The simulation hypothesis proposes that all of our existence is a simulated reality, such as a computer simulation.[1][2][3] This simulation could contain conscious minds that may or may not know that they live inside a simulation. This is quite different from the current, technologically achievable concept of virtual reality, which is easily distinguished from the experience of actuality. Simulated reality, by contrast, would be hard or impossible to separate from “true” reality. There has been much debate over this topic, ranging from philosophical discourse to practical applications in computing.” - Wikipedia

According to the original thought the simulation hypothesis is false. Why? Because any computer or simulation is a result of the original thought. And the original thought isn’t a simulation.

Our reality may be similar to the simulation hypothesis in that the original thought is the real cause and our physical reality isn’t the cause but the effect. For example when eating a lot of food and gaining weight, that’s ultimately an illusion. Just like how a character in a video game eating a lot of food and gaining weight is a result of the computer code, not a result of the eating. Similarly aging and death are “simulations”, they are illusions.

There are of course rules governing how our reality functions. The startling possibility is that those rules are second hand and often a result of the veil in third density. And an interesting approach is to start questioning those rules and examine if the original thought can be accessed through the veil.

The placebo effect, the ability to heal with belief alone, is I believe a hint of the original thought in action peeking through the veil. The pharma industry even struggles against the placebo effect in their clinical tests. I even heard of placebo knee surgery where the surgeon cut open the knees and just pretended to to perform the operation and then sew the knees shut again. And patients healed!

Another case, less verified it seems, is that people with multiple personality disorder have been reported to have different eye color depending on which personality is activated. Some people are even able to make scars and birthmarks appear and disappear depending on the personality. And other things like that. I couldn’t find any credible sources for this, but I found a book with the title The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot. The book seems to be speculative but there are also references to scientific studies etc in it. I will take a look at it.

The original thought having vast capabilities that are veiled in third density fits with the existence of higher densities. Higher densities then simply means that more of the original thought is shining through allowing for more a advanced reality. All the way to extreme cases like: “Tell that mountain to jump into the sea and it will do that [if you have but the faith of a mustard seed]”.

Michael Talbot wrote that our thoughts can create disease by affecting the energy field of the body which in turn affects the biology of the body. That’s similar to what Rudolf Steiner said! He talked about the astral (mental) affecting the etheric (energy) which in turn affects the physical world.

And probably the opposite is also possible, that by having constructive thoughts it will improve the physical condition of our body. Why doesn’t the original thought always cause harmony if it has/is unconditional love? Because of the veil. The veil in our third density blocks the original thoughts so that our individual thoughts become distorted. By changing the way we think towards harmony our thoughts become more aligned with the original thought.

Using effort to change one’s thoughts to become harmonious may be counterproductive, because the original thought is the natural ground state, and effort is like the opposite of that. So what to do? I believe it’s enough to notice disharmony within one’s own thoughts and feelings and recognize them as products of the veil.

Awareness of the disharmony within oneself becomes a guiding principle for the mind to effortlessly align with the original thought. Well, that’s the idea anyway. I will experiment with this technique.

I think the approach of observing disharmony within oneself is the correct approach! What’s the difference between that and ordinary mindfulness practice? The difference is that in mindfulness the practice is to observe thoughts and emotions nonjudgmentally. That’s similar yet not exactly the same, because the original thought brings an additional element, that it’s expected that it will improve the mind/body/spirit complex. So it’s a more active practice where the activity is done through the original thought.

And compared to many other spiritual practices the difference is even more pronounced. Usually in spiritual practices there is effort involved. In the original thought practice there is minimal effort of just recognizing disharmony within oneself and the original thought does the rest of the job. Also the non-doership in nonduality teachings is different since that “approach” isn’t about improvement of the mind/body/spirit complex.

Then what about all the other spiritual practices which require a lot of effort? They are correct too! It depends on the stage of development the person is at. The approach of letting the original thought shine through requires that we have matured enough and are ripe for harvest. In the 80s there were few people to harvest on earth Ra said. Today there are likely many more to harvest. So the original thought approach may be applicable to many people today.

What is the criteria for being ripe enough? To me it seems that we need to have become fed up with our current state. There are valuable things in our current life, that’s what is harvested. The rest is thrown away. When we feel ready to throw away our current way of living, then harvest is nigh. But what is valuable in our life, and what is worthless? One key is uniqueness. Unique individuality, that’s valuable. Things like social status, financial wealth, family and friends, career and material possessions, that’s worthless at the ripe stage even when those things can be very valuable prior to that.

What if the harvest is much further in the future? Or that one has to die before being harvested? Ra actually confirmed that physical death is needed in order to be harvested. I believe that Ra may have meant “death” of the third density state and not necessarily physical death, like how Jesus said that we must lose our life to find our life in Christ as a metaphor, but I could be wrong.

Even without the more extreme harvest approach I think it’s still useful to align more with the original thought through relaxing the mind instead of struggle and effort. Because effort to me indicates activity caused by the veil. And it could be possible to gradually begin to soften up the veil even if harvest is something for the future.

Edit: A caution is that relaxing the mind may only suit some people. I noticed that suffering can actually increase by doing so! It seems that the mind is trained and conditioned to run on discontent, that there is a slight and constant state of unease that causes the mind to think all the time. And it also seems that this is just the tip of an iceberg where there is much more conflict and suffering under the surface. And by relaxing the mind that subconscious nasty stuff can come up to the surface and cause a lot of suffering. So there can be reasons for concern about this kind of practice and that a safer approach is traditional mindfulness. (I will still continue with the original thought practice as an experiement.)
