For a long time, I’ve always caught myself stumbling over pronouns when talking about the Creator, or the Sun, or Earth. Over time I’ve come to “it” as a default, because I’ve always felt a bit presumptuous about calling the Creator a “he” or the Earth “She” or “Mother Earth”. I’m in my 20s and and have been really shaped by and appreciate the way that concepts of gender are being probed and questioned, but I think it’s opened up some confusion when it comes to relating to higher powers. Trying to tune into the Creator or Earth during prayer or meditation is a bit tricky because I feel like I’m oscillating between different images of the thing I’m trying to commune with, and it creates some serious radio static.
I know that Ra has referred to the Creator as a “father” and Q’uo routinely refers to Earth as “Mother Earth”, and these ideas are reflected in the way that they’re talked about, but I don’t seem to resonate much with it. I think I’m skeptical because on the one hand, I tend to think of sex and gender as physiological and social characteristics that I can’t confidently apply to entities like the Earth or the Sun or the Creator since I don’t know much about them. On the other hand, while I love L/L and have tons of faith in the channeling material, I feel that I’m taking things with a grain of salt knowing that channeling often involves an invocation of images familiar to the instrument and audience, and that the source might occasionally make a choice between rhetorical value and strict accuracy. For example, it seems that to the channeling circle and perhaps to the source, Earth can be seen to exhibit “feminine” attributes like nurturing and birthgiving (?), and so it’s appropriate to view Earth as feminine. But maybe Earth is more accurately understood as masculine or androgenous, despite fulfilling a role which appears to humans as distinctly motherly.
I suppose I’m wondering if there’s some more detailed reasoning or perspective that can help me out so I can settle down a bit and enjoy clearer communication. If anybody can provide some insight and maybe some L/L sources on the matter, it could help me out dearly. Thanks!!
As entities seeking on a human level, we choose one or another physical gender at some given time to enable us to learn particular lessons to catalyze our growth. In my view, what growth looks like on a logoic level is beyond our understanding, therefore understanding their relationship with gender–if any–falls into that same category. For our own purposes of nomenclature, I do not think it matters much.
Does Earth regard herself as feminine more than masculine? Try asking her. Maybe she’ll tell you.
I am originally French and French doesn’t really have an 'it ’ gender even the word ‘thing’ which in French is ‘chose’ is feminine, so for example ‘planet’ is feminine in French, which makes me, originally French speaking, thinking of Earth as feminine and Mars as feminine too, because I am thinking ‘une planète’ even if Mars might be considered as a predominantly masculine planet with warrior instincts ! And I wonder in fact who decided to attribute this to poor Mars who was doing as well as he/she could to protect her visitors but was finally destructed by their folly.
About Earth , perhaps since ‘she’ is still alive and offering us life support and nurturing despite all the ugly little things we do to her, perhaps this is why Earth is considered as a ‘she’ ?
More important is how You feel about different planets and what You feel is their attributes…
But your post is so interesting on this question of genders though.
That love we humans have for categories… Aren’t we somewhere bisexual in a way ? Why wouldn’t Creator be both, even if by chance he/she has a definitive sex, since we want so much Creator to be like our image… if Creator is Love then this is a force without any other attribute than… love itself, lol
I popped that question out to Earth this morning in a greeting and fingers crossed, I get a response. As far as nomenclature goes, I don’t think gender really matters much. I think the issue is important to me at the moment because of the confusion I’m struggling with when visualizing or identifying an entity I’m trying to communicate with during prayer. At this point in my practice, I’m finding that Earth feels quite different depending on what gender I think I’m looking at, and I feel that I’m usually at least in a mild state of second-guessing. For the time being, I try not to fixate on it too much, but it’s something of a nagging background concern. Nonetheless, I agree with you and feel that it’s probably above comprehension, and I’m thinking maybe I’ll get a message about it or maybe I’ll learn to keep letting it go. Thanks for the response!
Love the perspective! I’d recently been studying French and was definitely having fun looking at how it played around with gender in such a different way to English. And yeah it’s super interesting to see how Mars could garner a reputation like that for so long even though its personality could be completely different. It does also bring up another question I think about from time to time, about whether or not all planets might have a feminine polarization or whether or not they can polarize either way. To extend concepts of physiology from nature, planets generally seem fundamentally different from suns, the latter seeming generally to provide the former with energy, which like the female sex typically does in nature, becomes the most immediate source of rearing for new life. I would be curious to know if there’s any channeled material on the subject, but either way it is very interesting to think of. I certainly agree with respect to thinking about the Creator, which seems to me so fundamental and singular that it feels a bit silly to try and categorize it at all, but it is fun to play around with here and there. Thanks though!
I love your contrast between suns and planets , though suns might be planets too ? lolYou might love reading Michael Newton’s books. Michael was a respected hypnotist whose patients through regression could delve in between incarnations on the evolution of planets answering his questions. As did Ra in some sessions.
The davastation that can be caused by ill decisions of humans on the fare of those planets who keep welcoming us…
You might like his books they are fascinating and fun too… He was a very kind practitioner.
