It’s somewhat curious. Considering interference pattern visibility seems a function of coherence, could the light incident on the slits be considered partially coherent, where the degree of coherence change with observation, causing fringe spectral amplitude to vary? Alternately, as a slit is visualized, might it cause a slit width perturbation causing the fringe spectral amplitude to dip 1%? Strangely, might visualization on a slit perturb the E-M field at the slit, causing coherence to degrade? Finally, might the observation perturb the index of air perturb causing a path change induced spectral amplitude blip? Maybe the experiment is done in vacuum to rule out air index effects. Maybe the spatial coherence is synchronously monitored before light hits the slits. And maybe longer wavelengths with narrower slits are more sensitive to slit width perturbations. Would electrically grounded slits be less susceptible to observation induced charge fluctuations, if any? It seems like years of study are just getting started.

i know this thread is a bit old but i’m really curious about the possible role of consciousness in quantum experiments. has anyone tried adjusting the environment, like temperature variations or different electromagnetic setups, to see if it impacts results? and what about testing in non-vacuum conditions to throw in some unexpected twists? would love to hear any thoughts or new insights on these possibilities
