Hierophant hand gesture

Ra: Thirdly, the elimination of the wand is appropriate. Fourthly, the sphere may be seen to be held by the thumb and index, and second finger. (Session 96.)

Ra: The sphere indicates the spiritual nature of the object of the will of one wishing to do magical acts within the manifestation of your density.

Has anyone ever wondered what hand gesture the Hierophant makes with his right hand? The Rider-Waite and Egyptian decks each feature the same fingers. Well, now I know. Those three fingers are used to hold the orbs or spheres of light. However, the Hierophant doesn’t actually hold an orb.

One could interpret the absence of the orb in a couple of ways.

  1. The Hierophant is not the proper “Significator” card to show spiritual power. That properly belongs to the Sun card.
  2. The Hierophant might be without polarity. This might be a pre-choice and “young” being. The gesture might reflect the potential of choosing STO. Or maybe the desire to choose STO has not yet manifested itself. I note the left hand isn’t pointing either. And both elbows form triangles, a shape associated with transformation, but maybe not actualized transformation. (Reserved for the next card.)
